About the Department

Student Services provide programs, services, and resources that enhance student life outside of the classroom, promote student engagement and success, and foster a sense of belonging and community on campus.

Reporting to the Student Life & University Events Manager (SLUEM) the Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the University's new esports gaming room, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for students. As part of this role, they will assist in the development and execution of a variety of UOWD events that support the mission and values of the university as well as play a key role in driving improvements in the student experience journey.

Requirements & Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the esports gaming room, including opening and closing procedures, scheduling, and equipment maintenance.

  • Build relationships with students and staff, fostering a positive and inclusive gaming community.

  • Ensure the room is kept clean, organized, and in good working order.

  • Enforce the University's policies and procedures related to the use of the esports gaming room.

  • Maintain accurate records of room usage and equipment inventory.

  • Provide technical support to students using the gaming equipment and software.

  • Assist with organizing and promoting esports tournaments and events.

  • Assist in the maintenance of the department's event calendar, ensuring all event information is accurate and up-to-date.

  • Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries from students, staff and external parties regarding events and activities.

  • Maintain databases and spreadsheets related to student life activities, including participation records, event evaluations and feedback.

  • Assist in procurement requests for the team, liaising with procurement to obtain all required goods / services and liaising directly with vendors where appropriate.

  • Provide administrative support for aspects of event management related to wider university events.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:              

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field

  • 2+ years experience in an administrative role

Desirable:

  •  Experience in the Education / HE / Events sector within the GCC region would be advantageous

The University offers an expatriate package, which is an attractive tax-free salary up to AED84,000 per annum (commensurate with your experience).
