The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) at UOWD plays a vital role in advancing the university’s mission by delivering high-quality, data-informed insights to support strategic planning, academic excellence, and operational effectiveness. OIR is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating institutional data to stakeholders across the university, ensuring evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement. Role and Responsibilities

The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) is seeking a highly analytical and motivated Surveys Coordinator to join the Office of Institutional Research. This role is critical to strengthening institutional effectiveness by designing, delivering, and analysing surveys that inform strategic decision-making, quality enhancement, and performance monitoring across the University.

This is an exciting opportunity for a data-driven professional who enjoys translating quantitative and qualitative insights into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leaders and stakeholders. The successful candidate will be entrusted with end-to-end responsibility for survey initiatives and will play a visible role in shaping evidence-based decision-making at UOWD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Survey Design & Deployment

    • Design, develop, and validate survey instruments aligned with institutional KPIs and strategic priorities.

    • Select appropriate sampling techniques and methodologies to ensure data reliability and validity.

    • Manage the end-to-end deployment of surveys and evaluations, ensuring high response rates and adherence to timelines.

  • Data Analysis & Insight Generation

    • Monitor and track KPIs derived from survey data, identifying trends, patterns, and emerging insights.

    • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses, including correlation analysis, trend analysis, and basic statistical modelling.

    • Design and facilitate focus groups and other qualitative data collection activities to complement survey findings.

  • Reporting & Visualisation

    • Prepare clear, concise, and insightful reports for diverse audiences, including senior leadership and committees.

    • Develop data visualisations, dashboards, and dynamic reports using tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

    • Present survey findings and recommendations through written reports and presentations.

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

    • Work closely with internal stakeholders to identify data needs and consult on survey design and instruments.

    • Support the Head of OIR in preparing communications, feedback on survey tools, and stakeholder briefings.

    • Liaise, where required, with external survey teams and regulatory or ministry stakeholders.

  • Broader Data & Institutional Effectiveness Support

    • Contribute to data management initiatives beyond surveys, ensuring institutional datasets are accurate, well-maintained, and fit for purpose.

    • Proactively propose approaches, methodologies, and improvements to meet institutional objectives.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Statistics or a closely related discipline.

  • Demonstrated experience in survey design, sampling techniques, and survey deployment.

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills.

  • Proven capability in statistical analysis, including hypothesis testing, regression techniques, and parametric and non-parametric methods.

  • Proficiency in data visualisation, dashboard creation, and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present insights to varied audiences.

Desirable

  • Experience with SAS or SQL programming.

  • Exposure to statistical modelling, forecasting, or advanced research methods.
