About the Role
The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) invites applications from suitably qualified academics and industry professionals for the position of Adjunct Lecturer to teach the postgraduate subject FIN945 – Tokenised Assets and Decentralised Finance.
This cutting-edge subject explores the rapidly evolving landscape of blockchain-enabled finance, including cryptocurrencies, Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), tokenised commodities, real estate, artwork, and decentralised financial (DeFi) protocols. The subject critically evaluates risk–return profiles, regulatory developments, and the impact of tokenisation on traditional financial systems through practical exercises and industry case studies.
We are seeking an engaging educator with strong domain expertise who can bring both theoretical depth and real-world insight into this emerging area of financial technology.
About the Subject
FIN945 equips postgraduate students with the knowledge and analytical skills required to understand and evaluate:
Blockchain technology and asset tokenisation
Risk–return characteristics of digital and tokenised assets
Decentralised protocols vs. traditional financial exchanges
Regulatory frameworks, transparency, and market adoption challenges
The evolution and global implications of CBDCs
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging and interactive lectures, tutorials, and workshops.
Develop engaging learning materials using contemporary case studies from the DeFi and digital asset ecosystem.
Facilitate critical discussion on regulation, risk, privacy, and security in decentralised finance.
Integrate real-world examples and industry developments into teaching.

About You
We are looking for candidates with a strong combination of academic credentials and practical knowledge in FinTech, blockchain, or digital finance.
Qualifications and Experience:
PhD in Finance, FinTech, Economics, or related fields
Strong understanding of blockchain fundamentals and decentralised protocols
Ability to evaluate risk-return profiles of tokenised assets versus traditional assets
Knowledge of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and global financial systems
Capacity to critically analyse regulatory, transparency, and market acceptance issues
Excellent communication and teaching skills.
Highly Desirable
Industry experience in FinTech, digital assets, crypto exchanges, CBDC initiatives, or financial regulation
Professional certifications or involvement in blockchain/DeFi projects
Prior experience teaching postgraduate finance or FinTech subjects
Compensation and Benefits
The successful candidate will enjoy interaction with a professional dynamic team of highly respected educators from more than 50 different countries and exposure to students from over 100 nationalities.
The University offers adjunct lecturers at postgraduate level a compensation of AED 15,000/- per lecture for the trimester. This covers teaching, grading and providing subject consultation for students. The University is located in Knowledge Park, Dubai and has excellent teaching, learning and research facilities as well as a Library that meets international standards.
