We are seeking an enthusiastic, student-focused Career Advisor to help our students and alumni confidently navigate their career paths, develop professional skills, and connect with meaningful employment opportunities.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Careers and Alumni team and play a direct role in enhancing graduate employability, strengthening industry engagement, and supporting student success at one of the region's leading international universities.

About the Role

The Career Advisor provides personalised career guidance and employability support to students and alumni, helping them identify career goals, develop professional skills, and successfully transition into the workforce. The role combines career coaching, workshop facilitation, employer engagement, student support, and career resource development within a fast-paced and highly interactive environment.

Working closely with students, alumni, employers, academic staff, and industry partners, the role contributes to enhancing career readiness and supporting UOWD's commitment to graduate outcomes and employability excellence.

What You Will Be Doing

Career Coaching & Student Success

You will provide one-to-one career advising sessions to students and alumni, helping them with:

  • Career planning and goal setting

  • Resume and CV development

  • Interview preparation

  • Job search strategies

  • Networking and professional branding

  • Career decision-making and action planning

You will support individuals at different stages of their career journey and help them build confidence and employability skills to achieve their professional aspirations.

Workshops & Employability Programmes

You will design and deliver engaging workshops and career development programmes covering topics such as:

  • Resume writing

  • Job search techniques

  • Interview success

  • LinkedIn and personal branding

  • Networking skills

  • Career exploration and planning

These sessions will support students in developing practical skills that enhance their career readiness and competitiveness in the job market.

Industry Insights & Career Resources

You will stay informed about labour market trends, emerging industries, graduate recruitment practices, and employer expectations to ensure students receive relevant and current career guidance.

You will also contribute to developing and maintaining career resources, employability content, guides, and online tools that support self-directed career development.

Employer & Alumni Engagement

Working alongside the Careers and Alumni team, you will support:

  • Career fairs

  • Employer networking events

  • Recruitment activities

  • Employer presentations and workshops

  • Alumni career engagement initiatives

You will contribute to building relationships that create opportunities for students and graduates while helping employers connect with emerging talent from UOWD.

Digital Career Platforms & Student Support

You will guide students and alumni in effectively using career development and job search platforms, including employability tools and student employment portals, ensuring they can fully access available opportunities and resources.

Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

You will maintain accurate records of advising activity, student engagement, and event outcomes while contributing to reporting and continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance service delivery and student outcomes.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in career development, counselling, education, human resources, recruitment, student services, or a related field.

  • Experience in career advising, employability, recruitment, student development, counselling, or related areas.

  • Experience designing and facilitating workshops or training sessions.

  • Strong interpersonal and coaching skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student and alumni populations.

  • Strong organisational, planning, and event coordination abilities.

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience delivering employability or career readiness programmes.

  • Knowledge of graduate recruitment practices and contemporary labour market trends.

  • Experience within higher education, student services, recruitment, or talent acquisition environments.

  • Familiarity with career management platforms, employability tools, and online career resources.
